Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

We need to focus on the institution, not the individual priests. Practice and policy; show me the church manipulated the system so that these guys wouldn't have to face charges, show me they put those same priests back into parishes time and time…Continue

Interesting that?installing internet fiber for the road project can be a side project of extending broadband service to rural communities, Joan. Sounds like win-win.

Speaking of "Close Encounters" seeing the technology develop to make engineering to reduce highway deaths is exciting, goose-bump making.?

Colorado’s internet of roads is a go. Soon cars will “talk” to sign...

This is the project upon which Craig is working. "work starts in 2019 to use technology to reduce number of wrecks, fatalities."

blancolirio,?a seasoned pilot reviews the report on the two recent Boeing aircraft crashes and the consequences to the automotive industry. The last sentence attracted me because my son, Craig, is a network engineer for Panasonic designing the computer network system for the highway.?

So, after 40 years, it's time to revisit "Close Encounters" ,eh? Good idea.

And, Loren, you beat me to mentioning the "religious" poll results with a virtual tie among 3 groups. (See AN News group) Great news for us non-believers.

I have to say, however, when I attended a J.P. Morgan dinner program 3 days ago, a prayer was given. As I looked over the crowd (of 75), EVERYONE had their head bowed, eyes closed. And the prayer ended with the usual, "In Jesus Christ we pray, amen". What can I say? Sad.

Yes, we've watched it several times ourselves.

Comment by Loren Miller on April 13, 2019 at 10:21pm

Pardon my changing the subject, but...

Forty years ago, I watched Close Encounters of the Third Kind, not long after returning to the Cleveland area after a three-year stint in upstate New York.? I just watched it again tonight ... and it hasn't lost a damned thing.? The energy, the amazement, the wonder which Steven Spielberg intended is still very much there, even after four decades.? There aren't a lot of current day films which can match up to it – Arrival comes to mind, and I think it qualifies – but CEotTK still represents and damned well.

They don't want you on pain meds for very long, & I found it unnecessary anyway. My threshold is very high.

Comment by Ruth Anthony-Gardner on April 13, 2019 at 6:21pm

Sorry to hear about your pain, Patricia. But "Horray!", it's over. And the doctor is happy with your progress. What a relief. <sigh> Yeah, no clog dancing. Already off of pain killers, Wow!
